Full Time

Lead Carpenter

- Oversee and participate in all aspects of carpentry projects from start to finish.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
- Perform carpentry work including Hollywood-style set carpentry, event and custom carpentry, installation, fabrication, electrical work, door hanging, moulding, rough and finish carpentry, acrylic, lamination, etc.
- Ensure that projects are completed within the specified time frame and budget.
- Train and mentor junior carpenters.
- Coordinate with other departments including paint/scenic departments, welding, labor, logistics, etc.

- Communicate changes in labor to the Shop Manager and Foreman for approval.

-Make sure that the crew clocks in and out on time every day in the shop and on site.

-Ensure reassigned crew members clock in and out of every project.

-Confirm crew hours are only recorded on time kiosks.

-Control overtime.

-Communicate any projected labor overages to the Production Manager.

-Attend the job-specific Production Meeting.

-Conduct daily meetings with the Foreman and project crew.

-Work alongside crew on fabrication tasks, delegating where possible.

-Assign tasks to squad members based on priority and skill.

-Manage project floor space.

-Skilled and flexible in solving problems.

-Display a sense of urgency at all times.

-Set pace and skill expectations by example in your carpentry work.

-Lead the execution of dry fits.

-Label, pack and load tools, supplies and equipment onto trucks.

-Ensure that deadlines are met.

-Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

-Follow company policies and procedures related to health and safety.

Project Management Related Responsibilities:

-Communicate all build changes or questions with the Project Manager before building.

-Follow the direction of Project Managers in the shop and on site.

-Immediately communicate roadblocks and delays to the Project Manager.

-Communicate project material orders through Project Managers only.

-Contribute to Project Launches.

-Work with the Project Manager and Controller in the creation of the project schedule.

-Under the direction of the Project Manager take part in installation and strikes.

-Display a positive and professional attitude around employees and clients.

-Work with Project Manager and Logistics to create pack lists.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Carpenter with expertise in Hollywood-style set carpentry, event and custom carpentry, installation, fabrication, electrical work, door hanging, moulding, rough and finish carpentry, acrylic, lamination, etc.

- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and tools.
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.

Qualifications

-5+ years of experience in a similar fabrication environment

-Solid understanding of woodworking tools, machinery, and materials

-Local and Interstate travel required.

Required Skills

-Strong leadership and organizational skills.

-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

-Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Compensation

Hourly Employment

Temp to Full Time

$32 - $40 / Hour DOE
